Holy Child College Observes St. Thomas Aquinas Day

The Holy Child College of Education in Takoradi on Friday, January 28, 2022 held a debate as part of activities commemorating St. Thomas Aquinas Day.

The debate which took place at the Cornelia Connelly Hall was on the motion “Students’ participation in manual work on campus is an affront to the tertiary status of colleges of education in Ghana”

The students formed two groups to debate the motion.

The group in favor was made up of students in level 100 and 300 offering Early Childhood Education and Junior High School languages.

They were represented by Mercy Asantewaa, Monica Delali Agbeve and Benedicta Arthur.

The group against the motion was composed of level 100 and 300 students offering Primary Education and Junior High Home Economics.

He urged other committees of the College especially the entertainment committee to include such educative programs in their activities for the year.

Mr. Emmanuel Gillette, tutor and Chairman for the occasion called on the students to avail themselves for such educative opportunities in the future.

The judges

The debate was won by students offering Early Childhood Education and Junior High School Languages.

All participants received certificates of participation. The winning team received books in addition.

The judges for the debate were Mr Lawrence Ewusi Mensah, Mrs Kafui Danku Diaba and Mrs Veronica Amoah of the English Department of the College.

Present at the program were the Mr Kojo Amuah Prah – Acting Vice Principal and some tutors.
