Photos: KOMDPA holds first recollection after easing of COVID-19 restrictions
On Thursday, September 10, 2020, Konongo-Mampong Diocesan Priest Association (KOMDPA) held their first recollection after the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
The Recollection was lead by Rev. Fr. Anthony Twum, the Parish Priest of St. Francis Xavier, Sekyedumasi.
Theme: Servant Leadership; Jesus’ way of leading (Matthew 20:20-28)
In summary, he shared four (4) points.
Every purpose driven servant leader must be able to win the following battles:
1. Assignment and Attraction:
Assignment is what we are born to do. What we are ordained to do. Attraction is what we copy to do. Attraction is not your real purpose. You may please others by doing what you are not ordained to do. If care is not taken, we may be following the attraction. If we are to do our assignments, we may be fulfilled and happy. Do your assignment and not attraction. Don’t follow attraction but assignment.
2. The battle between Conviction and the Crowd:
Conviction is the personal ideals. We can go back to the declaration of liberty. We do it by choice and out of freedom. We do it by convictions. True servants perform and work by convictions and not by the crowd.
3. The battle between Good Name and Great Name:
Good name is driven by wise behaviors but great name is the desire to be famous. Some follow cheap popularity. Always want to be seen. Your academic accomplishments do not make you a better priest. One can have a great name but it can never give you a good name but good name gives great name. Good name is better than great name.
4. The Battle between Potentials and Performance:
Potentials are your hidden powers. All that you can do but have not done it. Performance is what you have done. Performance may block you from what you can do for the Church. Don’t let your successes consume you. Those who know what they can become serve better than those who do not know.
The greatest threat of moving ahead in the ministry is getting satisfied with where you are. We can still do more. We have the hidden/untapped powers to do more. We must not get excited at where we are. We can move on and do better.
