1 Cor 15:1-11
Ps 118
Lk 7:36-50
What are we doing about our present sinful conditions?
Are we okay with the way things are in our lives?
Do we allow what people know about us to cripple us from gaining forgiveness from God?
What are we ready to give in exchange for our forgiveness?
Do we take advantage of the grace of Jesus to receive our forgiveness?
In our gospel reading(Lk 7:36-50), the woman with a bad name (prostitute) heard about Jesus dining in her neighbourhood. This was her opportunity for salvation. She moved through the heavy crowd of accusers with suspecting eyes of what her mission was. She just did not care.
Beloved, our salvation is our business and we must not care what others are thinking about us. Ours is to get close and weep in the presence of Jesus.
The woman regretted of her former lifestyle and showed her remorse and love for Christ.
The gift of her expensive perfume, for me, signifies all that she was. All the riches she had gained out of her profession she had brought to Jesus.
She says in her heart, “Lord Jesus, the many times I gave myself to men, I say ‘I am Sorry’, now take me back again. I’m all yours.”
Beloved, with teary eyes let us come to Jesus with our tonnes of sins. Let us open ourselves up and receive his forgiveness.
Let us not be shy of the crowd. Let us grab this golden opportunity to change boats.
Let’s move from spiritual prostitution (giving in to all the pleasures of the flesh and the desires of the heart that opposes the will of God) to a life that is holy.
“Lord Jesus, erase the sins of our past and present lives and lead us into a future marked by holiness.
