The Ladies wing of the Knights of Marshall called the Ladies of Marshall, formed and inaugurated on 20th December, 1969 turned 50 years old in December 2019 . So the climax of the golden jubilee anniversary was done from Friday, 25th September – Sunday, 27th September, 2020 under the theme: ‘Fifty years of the ladies of Marshall in Christian Service – The way forward’, at the Christian Village in Kumasi.
The Friday, 25th September, saw the opening of the anniversary with a quiz for the Junior Order of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall.
The entire country was divided into 5 provinces:
1. Ashanti/Bono
2. Western/Central
3. Accra
4. Northern/Upper
5. Eastern/Volta
At the end of the contest, contestants from the Northern/Upper Regions took the first position followed by Western/Central and then the 3rd position went to Ashanti/Bono.They were presented with a Cup and medallion each. Each participant had a certificate of participation as well.
On Saturday, 26th September, 2020…the climax anniversary and awards ceremony took place at Longford Royal Centre at Odeneho-Kwadaso near Maria Montessori.
It was under the theme”Fifty years of the Ladies of Marshall in Christian Service: The Way Forward”
In attendance were host of the Church’s prelate including Archbishop Gabriel Justice Anokye, the Archbishop of Kumasi, Bishop Joseph Osei Bonsu, Bishop of Konongo-Mampong Diocese and Supreme Spiritual Director of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, Archbishop Emeritus Peter Kwasi Sarpong, Archbishop Emeritus of Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi.
Again, the Assistant Secretary General of National Catholic Secretariat, V. Rev. Fr. Charles BoampongJnr, the Executive Secretary of DEPSOCOM of NCS, V. Rev. Fr. Dieu Donne Davor.
Rev. Msgr. John Opoku Agyemang, The Rector of St. Gregory the Great Provincial Seminary and the Supreme Chaplain of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, Rev. Fr. James Bour-Mensah, Assistant Supreme Chaplain and Rev. Fr. Dennis Opoku, Assistant Supreme Chaplain respectively of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall.
Also, present for the anniversary were the High Officers of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall including the Supreme Knight, Sir Kt. Bro. Charles Cobb and MRL Sis Dame Dr. Agatha Akua Bonney, the two CEO of the Kinghts and Ladies of Marshall.
There were other dignitaries and host of societies, Christian Mothers Association St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Knights of St. John and Ladies Auxiliary etc.
The guest speaker was Her Worship Portia Anafo Salia, (Mrs), a Magistrate of the Asokore Mampong Magistrate Court and staunch Catholic also a member of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall.
There were about 960 members in attendance.
Sir Kt. Bro. Anthony Kemavor, a Substantive Past Supreme Knight chaired the climax anniversary ceremony.
Awards were presented to deserving members and all the prelates of the Church who are our Patrons and Spiritual Directors.
Notably among the award was a special Citation Award, a shield and a medallion were presented to Archbishop Emeritus Peter Kwasi Sarpong for his conspicuous deeds of merits especially in assisting the opening of the Order in London.
The Thanksgiving Mass was held on 27th September, 2020 at the Christian Village Hall. It was presided by the Most Rev. Joseph Osei Bonsu, Supreme Spiritual Director of the Order.
The Mass was concelebrated by Archbishop Emeritus Peter Kwasi Sarpong, all the Supreme Chaplains and host of other priests.
