Asankrangwa Deanery launches Catholic programme dubbed “Nokwar Katholik Asorba”

The Catholic Church is said to be on a mission. A mission which designates the Church as a messenger sent into a world of broken promises and fragile peace for the purpose of making possible the salvation of humanity. The mission of the Church entails an element of evangelism-the practice of spreading Christian belief in salvation. This mandate entrusted to the church can be pointed to Christ’s words in John 20: 21 23, Mark 16: 15 16 and Matthew 28:18 -20.

This mandate entrusted to the Church by Christ is carried out through every human race and age. Evangelii Gaudium (chapter 5) describes this church mandate as a Church which goes forth by opening her doors in welcoming people of all backgrounds. Thus, the Church cannot be a passive observer of the technology evolution or the new infomedia culture we are witnessing and experiencing. An era of information and media coverage. Specifically, audio and visual technology appliances like television, radio and the telephone which are used incessantly as a medium of communication today. The Church therefore engages in triptych response:

  1. The impacts of the infomedia culture on the dignity and development of people.
  2. Contributing to the formation of the new infomedia culture.
  3. To utilize the infomedia culture in promoting the mission of the church (Aetatis Novae, #23).

So in utilizing the infomedia culture in promoting the mission of the church, the Asankragwa-Deanery of the Sekondi – Takoradi Diocese have locally launched a program dubbed, “Nokwar Katholik Asorba” at Apollo Fm, Bawdie.

It was launched on Friday 18/09/2020 at Apollo 92.7 FM by VRev. Fr. Michael Herzuah (Acting Deanery Dean), Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Dolphyne (DEPSOCOM Director of Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese), Rev. Fr. Benjamin Doughan (Parochial Vicar of Wasa- Akropong Catholic Parish) and Rev. Fr. Francis Isaac Amoo ( Secretary and the radio program coordinator for the deanery).

The program will air on every Friday at Apollo 92.7 FM, Bawdie. The program is organized to help the Catholic Faithful of the Asankrangwa Deanery to attain the necessary knowledge and wisdom they need in understanding and explaining their faith (cf.
